Had potential at start, but got worse during the second half. Too many contrivances. Ended in a big cliffhanger. Frankly, I don't see why the book couldn't have been wrapped up as a stand-alone. What's with book serials mimicking TV shows anyway? What's wrong with writing series of books that can stand on their own?
This was an audiobook, and the narrator did a great job. Still, the prose has its moments not even expert reading can cover up.
