The Bedbug - V.V. Mayakovsky It's been years since I've read this and my memory is a bit fuzzy. Also, data on Mayakovsky is very hard to get.But I'm baffled he wasn't disowned because of this one.Now, the main object of the criticism is a "social parasite" of sorts. The kind that sways its opinion with shift of regime and seeks the best way to profit through flattery. And I understand that a criticism of these would have been approved.But I could swear this play also had very ironic take on both the contemporary society and some extreme ideas about how culture should be reshaped. I'd go as far as to describe his future SSSR as dystopian.Selective blindness? After all, he killed himself a year after writing this.Now, where to find "Bathtub"...
